Chondroitin sulfate is an acid mucopolysaccharide extracted from healthy domestic animal cartilage or shark cartilage, which is mainly composed of chondroitin sulfate A, C and other types of chondroitin sulfate. This substance widely exists in animal cartilage, throat and nasal bones, and is also found in tissues such as osteophyte, ligament, skin, and cornea. Chondroitin sulfate mainly presents in the form of sodium chondroitin sulfate. Chondroitin sulfate mainly consists of sulfate sodium salts copolymerized by N-acetylgalactosamine (2-acetamide-2-deoxy-β-D-galactopyranosyl) and D-glucuronic acid, and the copolymer is internally linked by β-1, 4 and β-1, 3 glycosidic bonds alternately.
